Remember a few months ago when I said I’m going to have the new theme custom-made and my budget was around $xxx?

Well, I’ve been really busy lately with school-related homeworks and one of them was creating a CSS website.  So even if I’m still very much a beginner at it, I will most likely do a few more CSS sites before Feb…so I’m thinking of creating the custom template myself!

Custom templates usually consists of graphics and CSS more than anything.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to manage the graphics section of it, but if I’m having problems with the CSS I’ll just get someone to clean it up a little and that should really kill the costs.

I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time approving links lately and I really do apologize for that.  I’ve been really busy with project deadlines incl. my graduation project which needs to be handed in next week (among other things).

But the holidays are coming soon and I’ll finally be able to go through the pending links so there’s nothing to worry about!

If you want me to approve your link asap, send me a reply on here.  Heheheh…at least I’ll know you’re not a bot.  Am I being nasty? LOL.

There’s just a few hours left for the new year, and I hope you have listed down your resolutions by now? I have.  I know that many don’t take their resolutions too seriously but I’m desperate to improve on some things and for that reason I’ve decided to blog about my 2009 resolutions.  I’m determined to be a better and happier person this coming year…and I’m excited!

I have to get back to work now, but I just want you guys to know that I wish you all the best for the coming year.  Many of us have dreams…and I wish all or a big part of that dream will come true this coming year for all of us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

After typing up this post and considering it, I’ve decided to set it up this way: Non-English Websites will now have their sub-categories.  It’s as fair as it gets I suppose, because it now acts like a mini-foreign web directory.

The sub-categories will be exactly like the main categories.  So let’s say you have a business-related foreign language site, you can now submit it to Non-English Websites > NE: Business & Finance.  Similarly, if you have a non-English ecommerce site, you can submit it to the Non-English Websites > NE: Shopping & Stores category.

This category is the first to have new sub-categories.  Other main categories in the directory will have special subs as well, but this will happen eventually and not immediately.  The directory still lacks a lot of links so when I feel it’s ready that’s when I’ll add the sub-categories.

I just changed the default Wordpress theme to a temporary Christmas theme and I hope everyone visiting the page likes it as much as I do. I wasn’t looking for something too extravagant, just something snowy, red and blue.

Credits of the designers currently at the footer of the blog so if you’re interested in getting the same theme for your blog you can do so by following the link at the footer.  I would mention it here on this post but I’m not sure if the site I got this link from is the actual theme creator or if they’re simply distributing it.

Nevertheless, it’s a pretty cool theme!

For the past 2 weeks now, I’ve noticed an increase in non-English website submissions.  However, this past week 0% of these sites was submitted to the non-English websites category.  I don’t get it: do they not know about this category; are they not seeing it when they submit their websites? Or are they trying to get their sites in the English categories?

I know that some non-English site owners might think that it’s a little unfair, that their sites gets to be ‘dumped’ in together with sites that aren’t related to theirs at all - only because the site is also a non-English site.

Unfortunately for now, things has to be done this way.  I only understand some languages and I would be able to moderate sites in languages like Spanish, French and Mandarin…but what about sites that have characters that I’m not familiar with, e.g. Russian, Turkish, Tamil, etc.? It wouldn’t be fair for me to place these sites under the non-English sites and then place the ones I’m able to moderate into the other ‘niched’ categories.

Besides, I feel it’s really nice of me to accept non-English sites at all…considering the fact that many directories delete such sites.

So am I being fair? I don’t know.  But I’m trying my best to be.
